A fire that ravaged nearly 10,000 acres in Onslow County is reportedly 90-percent contained.

Light rain and damp conditions Monday led to reports from scouts of less fire and fewer hot spots in previous areas of concern on the southwest and northwest sides of the fire where the ground was too soft for bulldozers, said David Brown, a North Carolina Forestry public information officer.
