Colorado air base switches to efficient lighting systems
Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado has installed Sunovia Energy Technologies’ (OTC BB: SUNV) energy-efficient 120-Watt EvoLucia? LED Aimed Optics? Shoebox fixtures throughout their base.
Buckley AFB is one of many military bases across the globe that is taking actions toward energy conservation.
The installation of Sunovia’s LED Shoebox fixtures will reduce the base’s energy consumption by more than 30 percent while providing maintenance-free lighting for up to 10 years.
Sunovia’s LED light fixtures were chosen by Buckley for its high lumen output, uniformity of light and the increase in visibility.
Many high-security facilities are choosing LED light fixtures over high pressure sodium or metal halide due to LED lighting’s superior color rendering index (CRI). Sunovia’s LED lights have a high CRI and therefore the ability to distinguish colors is greater, especially for areas in need of enhanced safety and visibility.
Sunovia’s Aimed LED? technology gives the appearance of light being painted uniformly on the roadway due to the aiming of optics that target the light, illuminating only the areas where it is needed most.
Jeffrey Fuhrman, USAF, CES/CEP stated, “The men and women at Buckley AFB have two initiatives; protecting this great nation and protecting our environment. The addition of the LED fixtures to Buckley helps us meet our initiatives by reducing our energy consumption by more than 30 percent, as well as providing more light where it is needed in order to keep our base safe.”
Fuhrman added, “We plan to exchange all of the current outdoor lighting fixtures to LED as part of our goal to reduce energy consumption in the next few years.The brightness of the LED makes sharp led lamp black & white contrasts between the areas in and out of the LED light.”
Buckley Air Force Base is considered one of the fastest growing bases in the U.S. Air Force. The base currently has more than 30 construction projects either underway or proposed.
